I went to the dentist this morning and after finishing up there went by one of the LGS locations nearby. I found this used Ruger Mark II for sale for a good price and the sales rep actually took an extra $25 off for me. I didn't think it too bad of a score for just a bit over a $100.

That's a fantastic buy on probably the best of the Ruger Mark series - congrats.

An LGS is a good place to go to forget about a dentist visit, Jake.
And especially when you bring home a Mark II for just over a C note.....wow & congrats!
I'd say better than a score....more like a grand slam.

They had it for $165 and the salesman took off an extra $25 without me even asking!! Had to pay the sales tax of course but still came out smiling.

Couldn't agree more that the old short barrel Standard was one of the best of the series. Congrats.

I have a Mark I that I bought new in 1976. It has seen a ton of .22s run through it, and has always performed admirably. It is one of Clovispup's favorites.
Yes, those are factory grips, and we both love the thumbrest. Hogue makes a rubber thumbrest grip for the Mark. You might consider it.

Nice old Mark. Those original factory walnut thumb rest grips bring a lot of money, now, by the way.

Here's my only .22 pistol, not a Ruger, a Browning Challenger II. Bought it new in '83 for $235, actually still have the receipt and manual. Also had a nice S&W 8 shot .22 revolver at about the same time but unfortunately traded it for a Charter Arms Undercover .38. Decent little pistol but definitely not a target pistol.

They are good little guns. I wish I had kept my MKI with the bull barrel.

Mine is the target model and has a wonderful crisp trigger that pulls 2 1/2 lbs. That is just as it was from the factory, with perhaps a little smoothing from repeated use.
