I can't imagine pulling the trigger on a mosin nagant held in my hands. I have fired a nagant once. Scoped myself and have been gun shy of it ever since. I doubt it kicks any worse than my 30-06, but I always pass when my buddy asks if I want to shoot it. It was the first high powered rifle I ever shot and just wasn't thinking it would kick hard enough to push the scope back against my eye ridge. It drew blood, but hurt my pride more than anything.

Yes they do kick. The M44 Carbin does not burn all the powder while the bullet is still in the barrel and causes a big flash. It is nicknamed a 'flame thrower' and if you want to see it shoot it at dusk.

When I was younger I thought nothing of the recoil but now days I do. I should change my name to Sir Rimfire.

And here I thought that specialty pistols (and a ML is a specialty pistol) were something of a modern invention. Great info, there, Mr. Rimfire.

As I mentioned in another post, we're definitely moving more and more into rimfire shooting, but being the somewhat reformed recoil junkie that I am, I sometimes go off the wagon. Case in point, found a beautiful Marlin 444SS at a local shop and, well, I, uh ... being a Marlin nut and ... hey, every girl needs a bear rifle, right? (And I do love the 444 Marlin cartridge. Great cartridge.)

I had a bear in my yard last summer. Maybe I should get one too.

... or the Henry equivalent in a 45-70. Henry doesn't make a 444. Wish they did.

Obrez pistols, these were made by guerrilla fighters and political dissidents in Russia because they were more easily hidden during home inspections. They were also worn concealed under the thick coats common in Russia.
