Nice picture of your Rossi snubby, Dutch. But the box of ammo got me thinking...maybe another thread on HD ammo would be interesting.

Anyway, do you load that GD .357 Magnum for your nightstand? Is your revolver barrel 2 inches? I have a Ruger SP101 .357 Magnum on the nightstand also, but load it with .38 Special + "P" ammo. It has a 4.2" barrel (my first revolver was a snubby SP101 with 3" barrel). I like practicing at times with stout .357 Magnum ammo, but that's just it -- the Magnum stuff does let you know it's there! So what I keep in the revolver is Cor-Bon 110gr JHP, .38 Special + "P", which is the "traditional" ammo they've made for HD. I also really the Cor-Bon DPX ammo built similarly, but hard to find on the LGS shelves and even the web..
I've chatted with some of our LEOs here, and described my living situation -- small apartment with neighbors on two sides and upstairs, too. A stout .357 Magnum, with a round fired and missed, could bring about serious collateral repercussions. I've practiced often with my Cor-Bon HD ammo, and it is also fairly stout, but I still think sufficient for its intended purpose.

I know we all have our preferred choices, also based on our circumstances and/or needs. Just curious about your thots on the ammo you pictured in your .357 snubby, if that's what you use? Does it handle well for you in your snubby? My hand is already feeling the jolt!!

Yes, it's a 2" barrel and no, I don't do any reloading. I have done some shooting at the range with the Gold Dot and with Federal .357 ammo. It does sting the hand if I shoot more than 6 rounds so then I switch to the .38 specials. I hope I never have to discharge it in the house, could really be hard on the ears. But if an intruder warrants shooting, I want the .357 Gold Dot to do the job.

I have a 12 ga Mossberg pump with #4 buckshot followed by a slug with 3 buckshot inside of slug, in the nightstand hides a s&w 686 357 mag with 4" bbl.

I keep this within 1 step and the gun too .
