After viewing many beautiful revolver pistols on here with wonderful storylines....I hesitated to even share this family photo.

My view on the matter is my ugly, black Glocks are tools that I utilize daily on the farm, at work, and in the field. I conceal carry as well for personal protection, so each of these at some time or another ride with me to work, to hunt, fish, and travel...among other things. I use the Blackhawk OWB holsters with the .40 and 9mm, and a Fobus paddle OWB with my .45ACP. Also use fully adjustable Alien Gear holsters for IWB concealment.

My first Glock (the .40) was procured from a police officer outside a gun store. It was his duty sidearm for a number of years and he said it never let him down. The price was right so I bought it. My first impression of the blocky hunk of plastic was, "I can actually shoot this pistol fairly accurately." Because they are so ugly, I have no problem tossing them in my truck console, dash, floorboard, or jump on my UTV or tractors with them on my side. They certainly won't win any beauty contests but that's okay with me.

I shoot my pistols more than my rifles.

not my cup of tea but certainly respect the fact that Glocks and Glock type pistols are favored by many or most other folks .... I admire your collection and have no doubt it will serve you well

Not my style of gun and I have no wish to own one, but I will never argue the utility and practicality of Glocks. They are a very functional working tool. Far be it from me to criticize anyone for caring one.

Thanks for your comments...Glocks always seem to draw either the best or worst kind of attention. Luckily, I'm not buying to win any style points or popularity.

After taking the concealed carry course and receiving my certificate, I thought long and hard about the things my instructor had to say. The right to carry a sidearm comes with lots of burdens. I'd say that 80% or more of my class decided NOT to go through with obtaining their full privileges because of this. One must seriously consider their rights and freedoms. Knowing how the law works for and against you is serious business when it comes down to what you do in the "moment of truth."

My son now wants his concealed carry permit and it has opened up new concerns in my mind. He or anyone else for that matter can legally "open carry" in North Carolina. He must wait until he is 21 before receiving his CC. His mother is not happy that I paid for him to take the course and lent him a Glock for his training on the range.

What are your thoughts? This may have already been discussed. I've been concealed carrying for about 4 years now but I always carried something in my pickup prior.

I carried a state issue firearm, off and on, for 30 some years in connection with my duties with the NC Dept of Correction .... with NC's open carry, I have no interest in going the concealed carry route .... my wife has hers

Glocks, being Germanic, look good much like Mercedes and BMW automobiles do. To me, Glocks look like quality, reliability and durability.

I think a lot of people join the Glock haters society just because others do. I don't care for them but in reality I don't have much experience with them.

I have one of almost every brand of the more recognized hand guns, Glock included. (S&W, Springfield Armory, Taurus, Walther, Ruger and Sig Sauer.)

I've taken every one of them to the range on more than one occasion and I don't understand why there's so much "hate" for Glocks. To me, they all do the same thing and in a very reliable manner.

Glad you enjoy your Glock family! If that is what works for you, that is great.

Personally, I am a revolver guy but my son is a semi-auto guy. He out-shoots me now - so I can't argue with success.

As much as I prefer the old, it seems striker fired is the future.

I'm still not comfortable with a gun that isn't a true double action or have a safety. FWIW, I don't like the 1911 locked and loaded approach either.

I still like the old Walther/Beretta double/single system, which I know Hickok does not.

So who are you going to believe, Hickok45 or me ?

BTW, is it me, or has anyone noticed that since the cops started carrying Glocks, they seem to be out of the holster and "going off" a lot more than the old S&W's

I happen to respect Hickok45 but was dismayed that he doesn't really back my Henry 45-70 because he dislikes the tubular fed system versus the side fed. He mentioned it over and over again. It didn't seem to bother his shooting ability though.

That man from Tennessee amazes me with his uncanny abilities with open sights and some guns he professes to strongly dislike- yet he is quite proficient with each and all of them. I own one Walther PPQ .45ACP but I don't carry it yet. I got rid of a Beretta 92F that I had years ago for no good reason at all. Just got tired of it. When I was younger I flipped guns like crazy- a very bad habit. One of my favorite wheel guns is my S&W 625 Jerry Miculek revolver in the .45ACP. It's a bowling pin gun that Hickok45 would shoot the moon and stars out with. It's got the best trigger of any pistol I own.

So as you can see- I am not a Glock "only" guy. These just happen to be the three I have pressed into service since I got my concealed carry.

Gregorsway nothing wrong with Glocks, I own quite a few. Lately, my carry has been a Vickers G19 RTF2 with gold bead front sight and Wilson Combat U-notch rear sight. I tune all my Glocks to smooth and lighten the trigger pull. Great guns and very easy to work on and customize. I luvs all of mine.

I'm not a Glock "fanboy." I own one, and am completely satisfied with it. It is a very functional tool, designed to be efficient, durable, and, most of all, reliable. The biggest thing Glocks are known for is that they go bang when you press the trigger. Every time. (Yes, you can actually get them to jam fairly easily by limpwristing them, but hold them right and they do not jam).

Every Glock in every caliber and every size within that caliber is the same. Made the same, works the same. Same controls, same manual of arms.

Within a specific chambering, there is also impressive magazine compatibility. In 9mm you have large- G17, medium- G19, and small- G26. The G26 can not only use its own smallish capacity mags, but it can also use the longer 15 round G19 mags, as well as the 17 round G17 mags. The G19 can use its own mags, and the larger G17 mags. All three, small medium and large, can even use the huge 32 round mags.

This works all across the Glock line up.

Some Glocks can also be easily converted to multiple calibers. Buy a 40 cal. medium framed G23 for instance, and you can easily have three guns in one. Buy a second barrel in .357 Sig and you can still use the magazines that came with the G23. Buy a 9mm barrel, get some G19 mags, and you have a 9mm Glock.

If you look, can you find individual models of polymer framed striker fired guns? Yes, I believe you can. But no other company has Glock's reputation for reliability, and no other company offers such a large range of guns across the entire range of semi-auto chamberings, with all their guns made just the same.

Glock has a large US presence in Smyrna, Georgia. If anything goes wrong with a Glock, they fix it.

Boring? Perhaps. Boringly dependable, durable and reliable? Yes.

I do plan to buy the 10mm conversion (hunting) barrel for my G21SF. I know I could probably hunt with the .45ACP as she sits- but want a longer barrel for greater velocities. Keith Warren has some awesome hunting videos on YouTube if you ever want to see a Glock taking down elk, deer, and hogs. He's a great shot with his anyways! I've got lots and lots more practice to do before I'd ever climb a tree with one!

I have nothing bad to say about Glock, don't own one, but have tried a few 9mms, they shoot good, but I prefer my Walter P99 to carry. I feel much more comfortable with a decocking feature with one in the hole !!
My friend that has the awesome backyard range has a few.
A little overpriced if anything.

Agree the 10mm would be much more effective for hunting.

I had a very early Glock model 17 many years ago. It had a very low serial number. One of the first in the country I guess. I always thought it was ugly. I still do. I gave that model 17 to my ex- inlaws neighbor. He was a great guy. I don't regret it.

Now, I have a Glock 21 that I have had for many years. It's a great functioning gun. It never has let me down. It eats anything I have fed it. It's the only Glock I own and the only one I plan to own. They are a great work tool for police and the military. That's what won me over. It's an easy shooting .45acp. So much so, I bought one. It's a bit large for concealed carry except for winter time.

Why is your SF obsolete?
