New Single Action

Post by Neon Horse » Thu Dec 22, 2016 5:02 pm

Grabbed a new Ruger this past week (or maybe more? Time is moving too quick). I saw this Blackhawk flattop convertible online and I had the cash. It's in 357/9. Plenty of fun to be had!

I hope to break it in this holiday break. My dad has the regular blued production BH. His has been a great shooter. I wanted one, but desired the shorter barrel and stainless.

I will likely swap the hammer with a Super Blackhawk hammer and do some trigger work. The trigger is a bit heavy.

I have the new BH paired with my Ruger Vaquero birdshead in 45acp.

You have two really nice Ruger revolvers there, Neon Horse - but I guess you know that already! ;) :D

Neon, our Flat Top 357/9 is one of the most accurate 357 revolvers I have ever owned. Stays right there with Performance Center Smith 357s I have owned. Accuracy with the 9mm is decent enough for practice and plinking and, of course, nothing cheaper to shoot than 9mm bulk. 357 accuracy, though, is outstanding. Hope you enjoy yours as much we enjoy ours.

Added Congrats on your new revolver. And I like how you've propped up those beautiful stainless guns on the shot shells--cool look!

Question -- can you talk a little and compare the different grips on your two guns? I've always wondered how the revolver handles/shoots with a bird's head grip on it. Thanks....and enjoy your Ruger!
