Single action, shooting the OM Ruger Single Six, too

My order for more backyard friendly Anguilla Colibri 22 LR arrived today, so time to do some shooting with the newly acquired OM Single Six with the 6 1/2" barrel, the subject of my last post on collecting Ruger OM Single Sixes. Wouldn't want anyone to think I was one of those collecting snobs.

Anyway, I figured the 6 1/2" barrel Old Model would be a sweetheart to shoot with the Colibri and, yup, it sure was. Given the paltry 420 fps rating of the Colibri, though, it took a lot of holdover to hit the bull, even at 16 yards. Once I figured where the Ruger was hitting, I cheated and put an orange dot above the bull and used it as my aiming point. :)

Yup, 57 tears later and I'm still stepping out in the yard shooting Old Model Single Sixes. How sweet hit is.

You have nice guns and the good sense to use and enjoy them. Good job

Nice work and great idea on the dot above the target. Hard to do though if you’re not shooting paper. My convertible was doing that and the front sight got redesigned

Again, thanks, folks.

Yeah, that's an old trick I've used over the years in accuracy testing guns that don't shoot well to point of aim. I don't think I'll need it when I move up to standard 22 LR ammo, though. Those Colibri are way under-powered.
