I ordered a S&W 380 EZ Performance Center pistol a week ago yesterday. Picked it up that Friday. Read owners book, field dressed it, cleaned it & lubed it, ready to go. Went to the range w/my son to break it in & get a feel for it. After the 5th round the Hi Vis front sight went flying. The sight is held on with an E clip. My son actually found it so we reinstalled the sight & tried again. 1ST shot, it came off again. Called S&W yesterday AM, new sight is in the mail. Hope it doesn"t take too long. At least it's something simple.

My Ruger 1911 Cmd. had the front sight break off at the base after 500 rounds which was a known issue with them. Sent it back to Ruger and they installed an improved sight.

I would suspect that the recoil is fairly mild. I think that it is heavier than my S&W M360 (14.9 oz.) and my Ruger EC9s (17.2oz.). Yet, both sights are practically machines. So, really not a chance to fly off. But, I would not expect that much of a kick from a .380, less than .38 Special in my M360, which is noticeable. However, I have not shot one. Hope the new sight works better.

Recoil pain depends on the ammo. I have a Walther. Shooting Liberty Civil Defense 50gr, more or less comfortable recoil. Shooting Remington Range Bucket 95gr hurts.

Okay. I was thinking that the weight of the firearm would absorb some of the recoil as well. I know that when I shoot my S&W 65 (33 oz) with 158gr, the recoil is nonexistent, when compared to my S&W M360. With my M360, it can be brutal. Yet, I don't know about a .380. I thought that it may have been similar.

It does give a general idea, though there is no mention of what ammo was used.
I should amend my ammo statement. 'Recoil pain ALSO depends on the ammo used'. Gun weight and ammo used. Lighter loads are obviously going to have lower recoil than heavier loads shot out the same gun.

Great news. Opened mailbox yesterday & found 2 envelopes from Smith&Wesson inside. One was the sight for my 380 & the other one was a wrench I asked about for my wifes M&P 22 compact. Both were sent at no charge. Sight is on. Come Monday, look out range. Here I come.

Went to range Monday. Loaded 1st mag and shot 5 rounds. Actually hit the target, sight stayed on. Ended up puting 70 rounds through it, had no problems. Think I got a winner.
