Ruger 22/45 Mark IV Ultra lite
Ruger 22/45 Mark IV Ultra lite
I bought a Ruger 22/45 Ultra Lite Mark IV a couple years ago in the bronze color. I liked the Ruger semi autos for shooting 22 pistol in the past. Alot has been said about the accuracy of the Mark series over the years such as which one is more accurate than the others. I like the 22/45 series myself over the standard Mark series because the grip just fits me better and the lite is really comfortable to shoot. I did some looking around online and have found that this Mark IV series is really unique because of the way the barrel comes off the frame. There is almost as much aftermarket items for the 22/45 as there is the 10/22. This last year I decided to play with mine and see what I could do with it. Ive added another barrel, a Volquartsen bolt, Sig Romeo 5 red dot and some accessories from Tandemkross. The muzzle brake and not pictured is the trigger kit with now flat faced trigger that gives you about a 2 LB pull. The barrels in the pics are the bronze one is the original and the gray fluted one is a Tactical solutions 6 inch. The 6 inch barrel is amazing for accuracy and the trigger pull helps alot. This gun even with the 6 inch barrel doesnt weight what a standard Mark 3 or 4 weighs. The gun with the 6 inch barrel has CZ rifle like accuracy with almost everything I feed the gun. The Volquartsen bolt is great to use and clean. It was fun to do and Im not finished I have a couple more items to add to the gun. But its my favorite 22 auto to shoot and the most accurate 22 pistol I have ever owned. I should add the orginal barrel has a Burris Fastfire red dot on it. I like the Sig better

I really like that rig, Al. The Fastfire is one of my all-time favorite red dots. Good choice.
With all the Marks I've owned over the years, I never had the 22/45 version. That UL version looks cool.

Good looking set up Al. Love the Tactile Solutions barrel, that’s a good look. I’m going to look into the trigger you mentioned, would love to have a 2 lb trigger.

Really nice. I had a MKII that was a tack driver. Sold it to a young Marine who was competing in Bullseye and couldn't afford a true match gun. He did very well with it. I have a MKI now. A gift from a friend, who's wife is not a gun person, it belonged to her dad who passed. I taught my friend's CCW class, and he has A gun in the house, the wife says ONE is enough.
