Not for me. My wrists hurt after 5 shots from my 30=30 contender. That 45-70 is a flinch maker.

I shot some 45-70 in my old Contender and, okay, it was plenty nasty. That BFR, though, would weigh bit more and that might help just a wee bit with the recoil. Another plus for the BFR is the single action grip. Much prefer that grip for the sake of handling recoil.

By the way, I have talked to a few folks who own those BFRs and they speak highly of the guns.

The BFR 45-70... yep I had one of those for a few years. Just have to make sure your knuckle has plenty of gap from the trigger guard! Other

I know they also make a short cylinder version for more traditional SA cartridges, but I've never seen one.
