It's not wrong, is it?

Post by daytime dave » Fri May 20, 2022 11:10 am

It's not wrong to put these grips on my handy model 63 is it?
I picked up two sets of these from the internet for a good price. I didn't like them so much on my detective special, so back in the box they went.
I've come to carry the 63 around the place just in case I encounter a critter. I wanted larger grips, so I went to the box and got my J frame target grips out. I got two pair on ebay a long time ago. One pair sits on my pre-34 and the other is in the box of spare grips. I put them on, but just couldn't help think how scratched up the would get from my usual activities. Soooo, I wondered if the Colt D frame grips would work. To my surprise, they work fine. No worries about scratches and they fit me well. So, is it wrong?

Not at all. The only time I get worried about the looks of my grips are on my single actions. I can get pretty picky about those. On double actions, though, I've always used what works best and the heck with looks. Besides, those actually look pretty good, Dave. I've seen much worse on DA grips that came with the gun.

for me there is no "wrong" involved .... the fact that they fit you well and you like them is all that matters

Looks nice! But, I probably would have tried S&W set:

Dave, when I got my SP 101 357, it already had Hogue rubber grips. I think yours look normal. Nice looking revolver.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Not wrong at all if they feel right. They look fine to me.

I thought I felt a disturbance in the force. Colt grips on a Smith & Wesson…….the world might just spin off its axis. Enjoy living on the edge Dave

It's your gun but there's no way I'd ruin the looks of a good Smith with Goodyear grips. If I knew how to post pics here I'd show 6 with nice S&W target grips.
