Found a Dan Wesson Vigil 45 acp 1911 at the LGS after work today. Looks good, feels real good, match barrel, trigger breaks at just under 4 lbs, and I love the solid grip I get on it. Seen good reviews as well. So you know the rest......it came home with me.

Home run, Ernie. Have had four DW 1911s and not a single failure to fire on any of them. Not one, ever. You can spend twice the price or more for a full custom 1911, but you won't get a better 1911 as far as I'm concerned.

Sweet. I like a good 1911. Can't wait to see your range report.

I have not kept up with DW's 1911 offerings since 2016. My first DW was in 2007. At one point, I had 9 of them in the safe. I like the value for the dollar of DW's 1911's.

I am down to the two I shoot the most. A guardian in 9mm, and Vbob in 45acp.

Those are the two 1911's I have, the only other DW I have is my 2013 715.

When I had several DW's they were as good as henry at taking care of their customers. Like I said, though, I've not kept up with the current lineup. Looking at your photo, it looks as phenomenal as the Dan Wesson I fell in love with.

Thanks all for the positive responses. Those are some nice pistols DsG. I have a SS DW Heritage that I like but this feels more comfortable in my hand. With everything that is happening right now it could be a while before I get to shoot it but I will post when I do.

NICE looking DW 1911 there Ernie. Real nice. I like all my handguns, but, those 1911's, well......., they are something.

Only have the cat to try to keep me in line. And he seems to approve.

Congrats. Dan Wesson builds a fine 1911. That will be a shooter.

Finally got out to the range. Set up at 25 feet and had some trouble seeing the black sights on the black target and the first magazine was all over the place. I also have some cataract problem with my right eye and while shooting the second magazine realized that with both eyes open I was aiming with my left eye. So I closed the left and was aiming with the sights at 6 O clock on the the red dot and found it was shooting low and left. Once I got things figured out I was more consistent and the third and forth magazines were hitting in a cluster. Set up some clay targets and compensating for the aim was able to hit them with out much trouble. I will correct the sight and try it again with a different target. I like this gun and I am looking forward to doing better.
