Wanted to do a couple mods to my Cimarron 1871 OT 44 revolver today. First up was to reduce the hammer spring tension for easier pull.
After trying a shim under the spring the light bulb went on again.....why not make it adjustable !
So luck would have it that the spring retaining screw was a standard 10-24 thread. So I found a longer set screw with Allen socket and used that as a stud blue loc-tighted in place. Then grabbed a 10-24 nyloc nut which you adjust to whatever tension you want on the hammer.
I set it up to be like the hammer pull on my Taylors SA 45 Colt revolver which has the tuned action. Test fired two empty 44 Special rounds using CCI Magnum primers and they fired fine and now have nice lighter smooth hammer pull.
Then I decided to put the factory wood grip back on but wanted to reduce the glossy look of the factory grip. So lightly polished with 0000 steel wool pad until I got the look I wanted then a wipe down with Ballistol. Think they look just right now!
Put it back together and wait for another range day. Not bad for a snowy/icy afternoon inside project!
Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry

Looks like another fine job sir.
Little jealous
Much more of a fun project than mine for the day.
Pulled the toilet and pedalstal sink, and installed some vinyl plank flooring. Then put everything back.
The floor before installing the fixtures.
