Yep had to open that tiny rear notch sight to get some space around the front sight blade.
Set it up in the mill and used a .062 dia. end mill which is close to what top of the V was. Then milled down and went an extra .010 on each side.
Now I can find the front sight easier and I also polished off the bluing on the tip of the front sight so it will stand out.

Nice work Forty. It's good to have the right tools and also have many years experience as a tool & die maker.

Thanks! I touched up the area with a dab of flat black paint and it blends right in. Hope to get out with it in next couple days.

Well I took the revolver outside in the backyard and tried sighting in from different sunlight angles and the extra sight width helps.
However that front sight blade is still a thin thing to see but I can see it a bit easier than before. Was a bit tricky holding that barrel in the vise since it is tapered everywhere. Using two pieces of wood conforms to the shape without damage. Yes I made a good decision to get in the trade way back when. You can use those skills for a lots of things.

Why not cut a dovetail slot in the front site and insert a piece of colored plastic to make it more visible?
