If I'm in the deeper woods all alone I'll grab my sig and maple hiking stick - The Sig fits perfectly on my backpacks hip belt

Which Sig? I have a P220 and a 2340 357/40.
My 220 is a favorite in the winter months.

I had a P-220 until my nephew went snooping in my gun safe...
I told him merry Christmas and happy Birthday for a few years.

My P220 was a gift from my wife the first year we were married. I competed in service auto with it, for a couple years, until my 1911 was built, and then it became my jacket weather edc. We have been married some 28 years now. The old girl is still a hottie. So is the wife.

I have a P220, P224, and 2 P229's. I like Sigs as well although I've been carrying the 686 and 629 alternating since I got them this summer.

It’s a P-220 Combat model. The only thing I did was put the Hogue grips on it.

My Sig P220 is a 45, and as I said, she is a bit older and worn, but still performs. It has been more than a year, nearly two since I had her on the range due to the move from VA to OK, but we have had a long relationship, and "know" each other. I can depend on the old gal. I had the department armorer replace the springs about every 20,000 rounds when I was shooting competition... and inspect for a cracked block. She's good.

In fall weather I usually carry the Sig in the Galco Miami Classic under a Flannel Shirt, or under a coat in the winter.

My normal EDC in the warmer months is my Smith M&P 340, I call "The Beast." This scandium framed .357 weighs nothing, but is evil. If you shoot it, you'd know she earned her nickname, but with two bianchi speed strips for reloads, I have 17 rounds of full house 158 grain jacketed HP on board and another pair of speed strips in the truck.

Nice handy trail carry iron! Mostly I carry my Springfield XDE .45 but sometimes a revolver will come along too.

No more semi autos for carry guns for me. Just have a plain ole Ruger LCRX 38 special. Its very dependable. I like sigs but for some reason I cannot shoot them very well. Same goes for Springfields.

It's a .45
I struggle with Sigs because I have small hands and the DA/SA action. That's why I let it go to my nephew, plus I’m the best uncle ever!
I have gravitated towards my 1911's.
I love my Springers. I have a TRP and a EMP. Both Single action.

I think I had to replace the springs in the SIG twice when I was shooting Service Auto in PPC. LOTS of practice. I was also teaching in the Academy, and teaching private classes, but most of the time in the academy was Glock time. By that time we were carrying the Glock 22 40 cal, then the Glock 23s when Glock offered us a sweet deal to downsize.
The SIG was my Off Duty gun of choice back when my hair wasn't all gray and my weight was also 220. Miss T and I were getting ready to go out for Dinner. She took this pic, there was a Jacket around somewhere. LOL.

I use the same Galco rig that BOM brought up for an old school Smith & Wesson M/1006 which is a 10mm in stainless steel. This is my woods carry set up and with the horizontal holster I can access my pistol while driving my UTV. I have never owned a Sig but have always wanted one. Maybe a P226 in 9mm one of these days.

So what would the benefits be of a .40, .45, or 10mm round? Last thing I want to do is add to my already growing differing calibers. I have .22, .223, 9mm, .357, .38, 45-70 and 5.56 NATO

.45 1911 and .308 bolt action have my attention these days. Oh, and cap primer musket maybe in the works next Spring!

In teaching, I would tell my students that the 45 was a larger, slower bullet, with excellent muzzle energy. The .40 was a bit smaller, but faster, with better muzzle energy than the 9mm.
The recoil of the 45 was a firm push, where the recoil of the .40 was more of a hard slap. Both were easily manageable with proper techniques and practice.
You could get more rounds in the .40 caliber pistols in most cases. Reloads in semi autos are surprisingly fast with practice, but more importantly, YOU are responsible for every round you fire. Accurate shots from either should do the job. I shot the 45 better. Others might shoot the .40 or 9mm better.
I have never owned nor shot a 10mm, so I won't quote things I've read or blow (gun) smoke up your butt.
I love shooting a 4" 38.
