Turns out I got an email this morning and the 626 was "Out of Stock" and someone forgot to change the web site. I'm supposed to be getting a refund.....fingers crossed.....but seems to be a reputable outfit out of Dallas area. I'm a bit frustrated but as all things, maybe it's for the better.

That’s too bad, that 3” barrel with the round butt is really classy. Hope you are able to find one.

Okay, finally found one and ordered. I'll post pic when I pick it up from the FFL when it comes in. I think when I originally posted I had the 629 on my mind and that's why I made the wrong designation.

I haven't reported till now but the deal on the 686, once again, fell through. There was a listing on Sportsman's Warehouse that indicated they were in stock. I phoned the toll free number to confirm and was given a positive answer that they were available and could ship to my FFL. Gave them my CC and I felt good. I was checking the order status wondering why I hadn't heard anything yet and saw that the order had been cancelled. I phoned the company and got some gibberish that the only store that had one was in California and was unavailable to ship! So, now I'm looking and waiting patiently for another to become available.

Yes, patience. When I was not searching too hard, there they were: a S&W and a Benelli. So, I took them home.

Picked up the 686 today. Here's a pic along side the 629. I've got Altamont grips ordered for the 686 so that they'll look similar.

Nice! I like the grips. I have a 65 that came with wooden grips. I put a pair of Uncle Mike's (that I ordered from S&W, thought that I would get a pair with S&W emblem), because it was easier on the hand. After 25 rounds or so, the rubber makes a difference. At any rate, happy shooting!
