New Revolver

I ordered a new S&W 629 3" barrel Deluxe yesterday. I'd been looking on GB for a while for a Redhawk or Smith with a 3-4" barrel. I have a Redhawk in a 7.5" barrel and LOVE it! It shoots great but really too heavy to carry unless using a Kodiak or similar shoulder holster. I found it online CHEAPER than anything that was being sold new or used on GB. I got lucky for sure. I'll give a report on it once it's in and taken to the range for a workout. I'll post a stock photo.

That's a nice one to have Jake! I have a 629-2E with a 3 inch barrel and trigger is really nice on those.

Sweet... something about a short barreled revolver looks good to me.

Yes, that is nice! Grip looks sweet and should allow for a firm hold. Nice find.

Bea-u-t-ful….. something about a large frame revolver with a short barrel is appealing.
I’m seeing a lot of 44 special in your future, as mentioned that’s going to be a handful.

I have a GP100 Talo 3" 44 spcl that holds five rounds. I really like it but just been yearning for a 6 round revolver. Here's a pic of the GP.

Wow Jake, both revolvers are so cool. I am fairly envious.

Excellent revolver. I've had several short barrel 629 Smiths and all were more accurate than they needed to be for short range work.

For mild 44 Mag. 9 gr. Unique with a 240 gr. cast bullet is a good place to start for revolvers.

Is it the larger frame that makes these short barreled revolvers fairly accurate? I have a Charter Arms Undercover and I'm very inaccurate with it. It does have a pretty small grip so maybe it's just me, I was terrible with my XDS also, I'm a decent shot with my Berettas.

Larger frame equals more weight to help reduce recoil plus the larger grip adds to control. Trigger pull plays a big part in shot accuracy too and the Smiths have very good SA and DA triggers. I swapped on the S&W 500 grips which have more cushion and give a great grip.

Got the Smith this afternoon and it's sitting in a new DeSantis thumb break holster on my belt!
