Congrats Jake. You picked a fine revolver. Waiting patiently for that range report.

Excellent revolver. I've had several short barrel 629 Smiths and all were more accurate than they needed to be for short range work.

For mild 44 Mag. 9 gr. Unique with a 240 gr. cast bullet is a good place to start for revolvers.

Is it the larger frame that makes these short barreled revolvers fairly accurate? I have a Charter Arms Undercover and I'm very inaccurate with it. It does have a pretty small grip so maybe it's just me, I was terrible with my XDS also, I'm a decent shot with my Berettas.

Larger frame equals more weight to help reduce recoil plus the larger grip adds to control. Trigger pull plays a big part in shot accuracy too and the Smiths have very good SA and DA triggers. I swapped on the S&W 500 grips which have more cushion and give a great grip.

Got the Smith this afternoon and it's sitting in a new DeSantis thumb break holster on my belt! :D
