Clicked during a weak moment........

Post by fortyshooter » Sun Jun 27, 2021 11:33 am

Yep pulled the trigger on a Police Trade In revolver...it being a Ruger Police Security 6 in .357 Mag. Blued with 4 inch barrel.
From Buds Guns and they are listed in Fair condition as in carried a lot with scuff wear but in nice shooting shape from what I have read. Revolvers come from Australia.

I have 2 DA .357 revolvers right now one being a Ruger LCR and the other a S&W M66 with 4 inch barrel from 1976.
Now will see what it looks like as far as the bluing goes and it might be a nice project gun! Hey it's a vault like Ruger!!

Yep we will see soon. How did I justify it? Well I shoot light Magnum or Special +P in the Smith 66 being a K frame without a lot of beef around the forcing cone. Ruger doesn't have that issue.

Good deal Forty. My guess is it was most likely carried a lot and shot very little. Typical of most police trade-ins. Probably dragged through the outback and used to keep a few roos in line.

Took a look at the Buds site and while it looks like they have more available it appears to be a Team Bud exclusive. I’m tempted, a 4” Security Six was my first ever handgun so I have a warm place in my heart for them.

It wasn't a "Team Buds" item yesterday but I guess they wanted a little more $ and that's a way to get it. I thought about it but have a GP100 .357 4" and can't see getting one of these. I really like the description of keeping on in the glove box! Great way to get a firearm stolen.

I don't like them well enough to just give them money to be a team member.

I'll bet it's a good shooter forty.
Congrats.

I just bought a police trade-in of my own.
I sniped a beat-up and well-used Taurus 92 for a song on a GunBroker auction.
It shows considerable holster wear, nicks and scratches, but the bore is bright and shiny, and it functions as advertised.

I already own a PT99 so I have several extra mags for the 92.
These are clones of the S&W 92 and are built like tanks.
With a double-stack magazine, these things hold 17 rounds of 9mm.
It's a handful, but a soft-shooter.

I had looked on Guns International and didn't see much there. Revolver should be here tomorrow and make a nice companion to my Smith 66,
