Found out thru experience that the mag release on this pistol is very light - too light, imho. I was going thru my collection of holsters looking for one that would fit this pistol, and discovered that every one of them, leather or kydex, would release the mag with even the slightest pressure on the button. Even if your thumb drifted down a bit when gripping would do it. Not good. So a little kitchen table gunsmithing seemed warranted.
The fix:
Order a replacement mag catch spring from Wolff Springs. They are sold in packs of 5. https://www.gunsprings.com/index.cfm?pa ... mID=58#950 . For a heavier spring Item 21786, for a lighter spring Item 21785. Have the new spring on hand before doing anything else. The spring and the plunger in the mag release are extremely tiny parts and easy to loose.
Step 1: Remove the Mag release/catch as shown in this video:

Step 2: The User manual shows how to replace the spring - page 36 & 37 in this:

The process should be the same for all the M&P Shield models.
Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry
