While at my LGS early this year they had a list going for the new Python revolver. Just for grins I put my name on it for either a 4 or 6 inch version.
Well just got a call this morning that they got in a 4 inch Python priced at $1599 and did I want to buy it.
Nope had spent those funds on my recent Henry .45 Carbine and a new to me S&W 25-7 on the way. So I said pass it on to the next guy.

I'm much happier with the fine Henry 45 Carbine and hopefully a nice smooth older Smith and Wesson .45 Colt revolver than one $$ Python.

I already have a well broken in sweet shooting S&W Model 66 of 1977 vintage with 4 inch barrel!

I have heard some not so favorable comments about the new Python.

Yeah they had some issues early on with the action not rotating the cylinder at times but heard they got that issue fixed.
Personally I don't like the new finish they have. Looks like a polished peened surface like what you get out of a viberatory polisher.

To me the new issue finish nothing like the deep rich blue or nickel finish of the old Pythons.

here is a video from Colt showing their fixes to the early problems with their new Pythons .... hickok45 has a video firing one of the early ones that had problems .... after sending it back he has made another video with the first one; as well as, a second that performed well

I just checked the Colt website. The MSRP is $1499.00 for both the 6" and the 4". Is there already a market for these new versions now? I was thinking of picking up one of each if they were around a grand each. Hmm, perhaps not now.
