Re: My local Handgun guy
I own a Taylors & Company Uberti "SmokeWagon" .357 that is almost too much fun for someone my age. I recently had to replace a broken spring and Taylors took care of it within a week! Great gun. Great CS.

That would sure suit me fine. I found out my local Hardware store that is a Marlin and Winchester dealer, can also order Uberti and Pietta revolvers. In 45 Colt too. So, I emailed my restricted license guy and will upgrade my license. Is that a 5.5" barrel? I have a real nice cross draw holster for that size Colt or clone.

It's a great gun, RanchRoper. And, yes; it's a 5.5" barrel. They make them longer or shorter, but I liked the proportions of this one.RanchRoper wrote: Is that a 5.5" barrel? I have a real nice cross draw holster for that size Colt or clone.

I can't help you with some of those brand names mentioned on the website in single action revolvers since I only owned SWEET Ruger single action revolvers in 45Long Colt, 357Magnum and several in 22lr/22wmr from the late 90's and on. I owned several sweet Smith and Wesson CF and RF d/a revolvers, a couple of sweet S&W RF pistols and a sweet Glock 9mm too.
My former Ruger 45Long Colt s/a revolver (It was a Blackhawk not a Vaquero.) and most of my former firearms were bought between 1998-2001.
My MT husband owned several 'custom made' single action revolvers in a few famous brands including Freedom Arms (Two of them in FA.) but most of his s/a revolvers were in the Ruger brand.
He LOVES the 45 caliber (45Long Colt and 45ACP) even though he ONLY Owns and Shoots some sweet 45acp pistols (Kimber and Glock) and one 9mm Glock pistol total in ALL of his handguns now. He plans on going to only 45acp for his ONLY pistol caliber as he continues to downsize.
The guys/gals who mentioned some of their firearms here will be able to help you.
Plus if you are going to compete with it in cowboy action shooting mainly due to your gun laws... sharing the same ammunition will be much easier for you in the long run.
Best wishes to you!

Re: My local Handgun guy
Thanks Cate. I looked at some nice SA revolvers in Cabelas on Friday. A couple of Ruger's, one was a Vaquero but not sure the other. Also a Uberti Cattleman 1873, but I don't like the 4 3/4" barrel. One of the Rugers had a 5 1/2" barrel and it looked much more balanced and "old west".Catherine wrote:I can't help you with some of those brand names mentioned on the website in single action revolvers since I only owned SWEET Ruger single action revolvers in 45Long Colt, 357Magnum and several in 22lr/22wmr from the late 90's and on. Re: My local Handgun guy
I finally located a Uberti dealer in Canada with a good selection of revolvers at reasonable prices. They stock a real nice 1873 Cattleman with 7.5" barrel in 45 Colt. I would love to shoot that at our range...at least now I know where to purchase!

What's the favorite finish on your revolvers? Nickel, stainless, blued, etc? I was looking at a nickel plated Uberti with walnut grips that was pretty flashy.

I'm partial to blue, but that's not because it's any better or worse than the others. It's because I've come to think of it as more "authentic". It's a personal perspective and it actually might not even be more authentic. Nonetheless, I like my blued Henry's and my blued revolvers. A lot.RanchRoper wrote:What's the favorite finish on your revolvers? Nickel, stainless, blued, etc? I was looking at a nickel plated Uberti with walnut grips that was pretty flashy.

I am kind of partial to my Uberti Stallion with the color case hardened frame, blued barrel and cylinder, brass back strap and trigger guard.RanchRoper wrote:What's the favorite finish on your revolvers? I need a Cattleman model in .357 to go with it.
