Marine, back in the day when I was using revolvers and other handguns for hunting, I never carried them in a hip holster. No one did. Everyone opted for a shoulder holster of some kind. Otherwise your handgun got too beat up walking through the brush and woods, not to mention that the big heavy guns needed a shoulder carry.

When I carry a revolver, now, it's typically a standard holster, but I attach it to a shoulder rig. For one thing, I never wear belts, but going shoulder carry also lets me carry when cycling or skiing. Carrying on the hip gets in the way with those kind of activities.

I have shoulder holsters, I was just going to make the tooled western belt because... I have holsters, a box full. I also remembered my other Single Six, the 200th year one I got talked out of.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can't do anymore with regret, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Ah, a Liberty Single Six, meaning a 1976 vintage Ruger stamped with the Made in the 200th year of American Liberty. I have a small collection of Liberty Rugers, but I collect them as much for them not having the "read the instruction manual" stamp on the barrel. That started in '78.

Yup, I told you the story of my room mate talking me out of that one. :D

I remember, yes. There are still some out there, though not too many with the stamp, of course. Those early New Model Rugers are some fine single actions, though, even if you don't find a Liberty version.
