Thanks

My favorite convertible has always been the 45 Colt/45 ACP because both use the same bore size, giving great accuracy with both cartridges. I really like shooting the 45 ACP in single action revolvers.

I do still have one of those with the 4 5/8" barrel, and the acp cylinder works just as well in my 45 Vaquero. ;)

That is a mint of an old Ruger you have NCG and yes a tough call to shoot it I assume you haven't cocked the hammer and it should be the old 4 click action. See if you can locate a Cimarron OM .357 revolver as Uberti was still making them with the 4 click no safety hammer. Few years ago I got one thru Evil Roy's store and his is the same revolver but he does an action job on them. I got it before the prices went to the moon and it is a nice shooter.

If not take a look on Guns International as you can find some hard to locate guns there and where I found my older Ruger Vaquero 44 Bisley.

You have more will power than I do Joanie. I would have shot it by now.

While I didnt mention whether I would shoot it or not I agree with Gene. I would have shot it by now. None of us can tell you what to do but I would think so am I going to leave this behind for someone else to shoot. Because you know eventually its gonna probably get shot unless you have some real collector following you to leave it to. So why be the first one to shoot it. Just my .02 worth

Yeah, I'm not ruling anything out at this point. Yes, it is an un-converted Old Model. We cocked the hammer back just far enough to make sure there was no transfer bar. And I have cocked it a couple of times to check the trigger, which, like most Old Models, is very good. Right now, the gun is sitting in the safe, out of sight, to reduce temptation.

I admire your willpower and your sense of value and respect for a rare specimen. If it was mine and I knew that I was going to pass it down to someone who might pass it down to either preserve it as is. Or be able to turn it for a nice price. I might not shoot it now but since I am pretty sure that I would pass it down to my youngest grandson who would want to shoot with me while I am still around. I most likely would have already been to the range. I definitely am lacking in the willpower department.

It's thought that eventually the Earth will fall into the Sun, and the Sun will fall into the center of the Milky Way (a Black Hole knowns as Sagitarious A*), and the rest of the Galaxies in the universe will all eventually collapse back into the initial Singularity (Big Bang). Or so it seems now as we continue to figure it all out.

In the end, though, regardless of some theoretical universal plan, your beautiful, pristine revolver has no real lasting value except to you in that moment that you take a deep breath and you pull back the hammer, take careful aim, and squeeze the trigger.

Shoot it and enjoy that moment.

Thanks, guys.

For the time being, this one will sit in the safe, unfired. It's just so rare to find an Old Model in such gorgeous condition. I just have to be patient and find a shooter grade OM 357, now.
I have to say that I'd probably done the same, considering the cylinder has never turned. That is a rare and nice find. I hope you find another in not so nice condition.

I recently ran across a Ruger that I'm not sure was ever fired. Yes, I plan to shoot it anyway. It had no box or papers.

Congrats on that beautiful Ruger.

Thanks, again, guys. For now, I'll just pull it out and admire it for the fine old Ruger it is.
