Uberti Companion for the 357 BBS!

Post by ESquared » Tue Feb 26, 2019 5:07 pm

Was so impressed with the 45 Colt Uberti that I dumped a striker-fired Sig 320 ("a gun comes in, a gun goes out") and picked up this Uberti El Patron in 357 Mag with a 4.75" barrel. "Grizzly Paws" edition, with the Army grips, allows for a terrific "purchase," as they say. Cleaned 'er up, and the fit, finish and CCH frame is very nice.
Need to dig into my manuals and see if I might finally have a good use for those pesky 110 gr XTP bullets I've been trying to solve for, not to mention some partial boxes of 125 and 140 gr XTPs.
Range report to come!

Congrats on your second sharp-looking Grizzly! Very nice choice. Your Uberti collection is growing.
And this one really looks to be in the pink.

Beautiful revolver! Does it have the new Uberti hammer safety, or is it a four click COLT clone?

Haven't dug in that deeply yet. Is the new hammer safety visually identifiable in some way?

Somewhat. If you don't have the first click position, just the next three, it is the new hammer safety. In addition, the base pin will not have two notches, just one.

I would like to add a birdshead gripped .357 to my collection to go with my .357 carbine. I have heard great things about the Uberti quality.
Your new .357 is beautiful. :D
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

I've never held a birdshead to be able to determine whether it "fits" me or not, but these Grizzly Paw grips are just the ticket for me. I know Uberti makes a few birdshead 357s, however. I gravitate toward the "Stallion" Old West, as it has checkering:

Thanks for your kind words!

Looks like a single-notch base-pin, so "new design" safety mechanism. Not that hung up on the "4-Click" Colt aspect, as my 45 Colt Uberti has that neat little feature!
