As for me, I'm going to call it good with my one 617 and hope it doesn't have to go back to Smith for a third time. We'll see. My previous 617 had to go back, too. Overall, I haven't had the best of luck with 617s. Oh, well. I always have plenty of Ruger Single Sixes to shoot and I've never sent one of them back in the nearly sixty years I've been shooting Single Sixes and I've owned a truck load of them. My average Single Six will typically shoot inch and a half groups at 25 yards to the 617's one inch groups, but a Single Six always goes bang when you pull the trigger.

Al, thank you for the photograph. I think it's a handsome revolver (the Ruger). I don't think I'd get one at this stage. After seeing your painful ordeal, I'm thinking I wouldn't have your patience. I agree with your assessment as to why you don't see them around.
