That's encouraging, Al. I think if you get it working, it will be a great gun for you.

I really like the looks and feel of the gun. I no one thing when it returns it will also go to my gunsmith. I know after the job he’s done on my Smiths that Ruger will be a joy to shoot.

That's great, Al. You are very lucky to have a good gunsmith that does that kind of work. That's a rare thing, these days.

Reading this post has motivated me BigAl. I recently put a rifle up for trade looking for the original S&W M/63 - 4” or an original 6 shot M/617 or the blue version or either. So far no takers sadly.
Glad you getting issues straightened out and are starting to enjoy your revolvers.

Got the email today from Ruger. My GP-100 22 is on its way back. According to the packing slip they made adjustments to the pawl and polished the gun. I should have it in my hands on Tuesday. I will post back here again with my thoughts at that time.

Update
The Ruger has returned. It does function now like it should and they polished out the scratches. The gun looks new. I also picked up my newly tuned 617 with a fiber optic front sight. The 617 is now functioning like a Smith use to. I cant wait to shoot it. Im gonna get some grips for it and as soon as I do I will post some pics. The Ruger is now at my gunsmith and I look forward to its return as I know it will be nice.

Fingers crossed for a positive report on the Ruger after your gunsmith works his magic.

I was in a couple of LGS’s yesterday and I had the chance to compare the GP100 and the M/617 side by side. The GP won on sights, price and weight and the 617 won on trigger. I was just reading a review on the GP trigger and how stiff it is. Yep! Yours should be wonderful after your smith does his magic.
I’m thinking that if I’m able to get a 22lr revolver (DA) I will probably get the Ruger. I don’t think these old eyes can deal with the S&W black on black sights. Of course I can change or alter them (paint) but the firer optic on that Ruger sure is nice.
