Before you try this make sure you have some super light cowboy loads. That 38 Ruger shows as much recoil as a 22.

I tried this with my .41mag NMBH. Did ok without any bullets in the cylinder. Don't think I'd want to do it with 210 grn XTP tho.

Yep cowboy loads only with that. I shoot just fine the standard way.

With the coil spring action of a Ruger single action you could probably get away with that. I would not do it with a Colt or Colt clone as I think that it would lead to very worn or even broken parts.I have a Ruger Blackhawk and a Colt S.A.A. both are .45's. If I had to bet my life on one it would be the Ruger.
