I saw this Sears version of a Marlin at my lgs on my way home from the range. For 66 bucks how could I pass it up? And I knew I had an extra Sears scope at home for it. I know its a little beat up but it didn't look like the rust had pitted the barrel yet. Double click on the pictures to get a detailed view.

After an hour of light cleaning I put the Weaver 4X scope on it. So its now a Sears marked scope on a Sears marked firearm. Weaver on Marlin.

I don't think it had ever been fired much. It looked like it had been put away dripping wet with oil and not touched for forty years. You could almost see individual fingerprints in the rust. At five feet it looks brand new but in your hands you can tell its been cleaned. I use Remoil then Froglube and paint in on with a natural bristle paintbrush. Sometimes it takes hours but this one only took a few minutes.

Should make for a good little shooter.
Congrats.

I own a Ranger 103, quite a bit like it and maybe the same, though I thought it was made in the early 1900's. It was my father-in-law's and believed he owned it in childhood, but that could be wrong. I've taken it to range and kept it clean and looking like new.

I think the Ranger 103 is the magazine fed version of the MOD 41 which is single shot only.

Ditto on Dutch!
Looks good, SH, against your assessment of "resting somewhere untouched for 40 years."
Always nice to have some good oldies.

Cleaned up very nice. You got a real deal on that rifle. My brother has a Sears/Marlin very much like that one and they are good shooters. If I remember the triggers are simple and easy to lighten some. Been a while since I saw his out of the stock. Waiting on a range report.
