interesting eval .... I could see one buying a Henry AR7 but that's pretty much my only interest in AR platform rifles

Interesting how many firearms options are out there nowadays. I'd not ever get an AR15; however, I do like the color combo on your gun. That same color mix looks great on 1911s. Best part of your shooting was when you did the "whack-a-tack" sequence. That is hard to imagine, especially shooting off hand at that yardage. But you accomplished it. Excellent marksmanship.

Which reminds of what I saw yesterday when I went out for the first time to shoot a new-to-me cap & ball pistol, my black powder single-shot .50 CAL. Definitely worlds apart from an AR-15. I just moved into the BP realm of the shooting sports, and I got to go to this BP shoot and competition. There was one fellow there in the "Novelty Shot" competition with his BP rifle. I heard him let go of a loud "yelp" when he split a straw in half at 10 yards. Almost like a whack-a-tack shot.

It would be something else if I could hold my heavy pistol steady enough to shoot off hand at 10 yards, and roll a round ball off the top of a tack! Definitely would be some kind of challenge; but that's what would make it fun.

Thanks All! I almost didn't post the link to this video here because it's not very "Henry like." Then I thought maybe some of you would enjoy it, so I went ahead with it. Just as an FYI, the new side-loading Henry rifles have my attention, so you just might see one of those in the future!

As a former Marine, there is a place in my heart for the AR style...
I sure put enough rounds thru them over my career.
