That's a great find. Have had the standard 444, but always wanted the ported version for a bit more comfort shooting. Only made for a couple of years. Congrats.

Congratulations, beautiful rifle!

Had one years ago not the ported but a standard rifle. It was very accurate with the Hornady 265gr and 4198. I sold it to a guy here locally that used in in CAS. Its one of those times when that dummy gremlin seemed to run wild in my head. I wish I still had it and would have not ever sold it. Nice find on the ported version. I see those for sale in pistol caliber and 45-70 but havent seen one in 444. I can imagine what the price was. I see the others bring 1k or more on GB. Al

Very nice P model. They are few and far between lately around here. I had one back about 2001 and left it get away. Bad move on my part. If I see one for sale and have the cash I will probably buy it and sell on of my 22" barrel ones I now have. I have maybe what could be the little brothers to your P model. Left is a Marlin 39 TDS 16 1/4" barrel 22 and right is a Marlin 1894P 16 1/4" ported barrel.

Good to see other "P" owners. I own both the 44P & 444P, outstanding rifles! Mine are configured with the XS Scout System (base, front sight blade, and ghost ring) and the Weaver K4 Classic Scout Scope is mounted with Weaver Lever-Lok Rings. Here is a group picture of my Marlin scouts, the middle rifle is the 336D. It was a Guide Gun chambered in 35 Rem.



I shoot a 355-grain bullet in the 444P & a 300-grain bullet in the 44P, both of my design.

All is good! Same back at you. I sold the 340 (Revelation 225) to a guy that needed a deer rifle for his kid, but I'm not one to be without a 340. I bought another and turned it into a scout rifle; it is a super hunting rifle.

I never had the 410, but I do have the Rio Grande in 45-70 Govt and 30-30 Win. I took another 30-30 Win and sent it to JES while it was NIB and had it rebored/rechambered to 38-55 Win. All three of these are very nice, light weight rifles. The RG4570 can ring your bell with a stiff load!

I also have the Rossi 92s chambered in 357 Mag, 44 Mag, 45 Colt, 454 Casull, and 480 Ruger. All are configured as scout rifles. The eight rifles, the three RGs, and five 92s have killed a lot of critters.

The Long Ranger brought me to the forum. Was thinking about the 308 Win but between the announcement and one being at my dealer, I had too much time to think about it plus a NIB Savage 11 Scout in the same cartridge got in the way.

Nice use of what should be a common rifle

I'd like to see xs make a scout system for the big boy steel rifles.
