1860 Henry

Try as I may, I could not justify the $3k+ for the H011. Just too much dough for a working guy.

However, I am excited to report that I have a brand new Cimarron 1860 Henry on order in 45 Colt. :D :D :D Should have it the end of April! Check it out:

http://www.cimarron-firearms.com/1860-h ... arrel.html

I am super excited, should be a real nice rifle! All of the reviews on forums, Hickock45, website, etc are great, and I'm buying from the guy who sold me the 1860 SA revolver. He's a Cimarron dealer, gunsmith, and the authorized repair and warranty guy for Cimarron in Alberta. I also PM'd TGR on the forum here and got his $.02 as well, thanks TGR. 8-)

Nice Rifle RR.

you got to go where you got the support, and being in the great white, this made sense.

It's a proper caliber too; good choice.

Based on what I've read and heard it's a very reliable shooter. The dealer guy also shoots CAS and says they perform well with hard use. Sure hope so, it's not a cheap rifle either!

Now, that is a rifle a cowgirl like me can love. Wow! Speaking of Cimarron, just picked up a very lightly used Cimarron Frontier in 357, made by Pietta that is lovely. Hope to get out and shoot it when the weather warms a bit, at least into the double digits for temps.

Also, as a side note, does this post on other brands than Henry as far as lever guns mean I can post on Marlins and Winchesters and such? Don't want to post something that would be frowned upon on this forum.

Thanks folks. I'll order a lined scabbard for it before it arrives so I can pack it horseback too. The Big Boy rifle will get used as well; depends on the day! nice to have a choice, and all the same caliber. :)

RanchRoper, I think that's gonna be a really nice rifle.

NCG, you are making me really envious of your revolver collection! If you get tired of any of them, lemme know.

Good plan, I sure wouldn't want to try to take any from her. :shock:

I'm more inclined to sell or trade off DA revolvers, but, now and then, one earns a permanent home in our safe. Much more inclined to keep the single actions. They tend to stick around a lot more. Sorry.

Don't worry, once the rifle shows up I'll post photos and range reports!

This rifle is reported to be completely period correct with the exception of the caliber. Correct right down to the stamps and printing on the barrel. Cimarron works with Uberti to hide the required import marks and numbers I read. Same with their SA's. There are other importers of this rifle, Taylor's, Stoeger and I think Uberti has some other dealers as well. But from what I've researched, Cimarron tries to have theirs done with some "options" that make them period correct. I also read that Cimarron supplies many western movies as well, including the Tom Selleck westerns and Tombstone. It should be a pretty cool rifle. Some people don't like the reddish stain on the Uberti rifle stocks but if you look at photos of actual Henry rifles from the period, the wood is almost a dark cherry red on some. Now, the HRA wood is in a class all it's own as most of us know. But again, the money I'm NOT spending on the H011C will buy a scabbard and lots of ammo. Sometimes a cowboy just has to be practical. The brass receiver is highly polished and sealed with a clear coat I read, and some guys strip the clear coat off with acetone so the brass will age to a nice patina. We'll see what it looks like when I get it. Anyhow, looking forward to cracking open a new rifle box! :D....ps, the hammer and lever are case hardened too which is a nice touch.
Check out the pics of the Cimarron versus the real thing from the 1800's, pretty darn close I think;
