Winchester Model 60 Firing Pin

I bought this single shot some thirty years ago to teach the kids to shoot with, and give them something to plink with. Always felt a single shot was the best way to go, as the ritual of load, fire, discuss, unload, reload, repeat... Slowed the firing and increased the concentration. There was never the temptation to shoot a string of rapid fire.
Several of the grandkids learned on this old rifle as well. I passed it on to my middle daughter years ago so her daughter could learn on it. This weekend, when they came up for Christmas, she brought it along. "Dad, she won't cock any longer."
After breaking the gun down and doing a little research I discovered the firing pin was broken. It is a tubular affair the shooter pulls back to cock the rifle, the curved bar across the bottom engages the sear.
An hour long search did not turn up that part nor the complete bolt. Anyone have a Winchester Model 60 parts gun? Or a Model 60 they want to sell.

Did you try Numrich Arms? They specialize in parts for discontinued firearms.
Also, do some research in hopes that the Winchester 60 was also sold as a store brand (J C Higgins, Western Auto, etc.). Many were back in the old days.

I did a quick check on Numrich Arms and they show the firing pin for Winchester Model 60 as "Out Of Stock".
Investigate Cooey Model 60. I think, but am not at all sure, it may be the same rifle.

Definitely try e-bay. That's become the most used source for vintage gun parts.
From what I've researched the Model 60 was the predecessor for the Model 67 which had a much, much longer run. I have a 67 and still shoot it. It's what we single shot folks call a thumb cocker, meaning that opening and closing the bolt does not cock the gun. All the major brands had their version of a thumb cocker single shot back in the day.
After loading and closing the bolt with a thumb cocker, you still have to cock the gun via a knob at the back of the bolt. Looks like this on my 67. (Note that there is also a Model 68 which is basically the same as the 67 but with different sights. I think Gene has one.)
The reason I mention it is that there may be a chance that a firing pin from a 67 might work or be modified for your 60. If so, you'll have a much better chance of finding a firing pin. If all else fails, you should be able to find a Model 67. Similar to a 60, but much more common.

I think, from the pics, the firing pins are different on the 60s, 61s, 67s, etc.
I checked ebay and the rest. The ones that list the firing pin, show not in stock. We will keep looking. Thanks for the suggestions and replies.

You might be able to help out the next generation of shooters by selling your old Model 60 on eBay, It has a parts gun . . .

Yes I have a 68. It’s a fun little shooter.
