So I wasn’t completely happy with the rifle and I also decided to go to .308 caliber to match my Savage 110. I wanted another lever gun and Browning offered the BLR 81 in .308, with a stainless steel barrel, alloy receiver and laminate stock, very rare rifle. Over the years I searched around all the local gun shops for both new and used, nothing. Local gun shop said go on the internet and try to find one and have it sent to them. So I went on the net and low and behold a gun shop I forgot to check had a brand spanking new one, took my unused H009 in trade and I now own a beautiful Browning BLR 81 in .308.
I think the known issues are taken care of. If you have any issues or know of another member who is having issues, PM daytime dave. As we head towards the holidays, hunt with your Henry.
Hard to Find
Hard to Find
Bought a Henry H009 in 2012 when the NYS Safe Act was enacted, traded my Beretta Storm 45acp because it was now designated an assault weapon. It had the problem where the lever would pop open when loading, Henry sent me a replacement lever with the stronger detent which cured the problem but you had to close the lever with authority or the rifle wouldn’t cycle.

Very nice Browning. I like it, too. Glad you were able to find one.
Re: Hard to Find
Agreed, that’s a fine looking rifle that will get the job done.
