Carl Gustaf 1900 6,5x55 Swede
Carl Gustaf 1900 6,5x55 Swede
Just wanted to show this if someone is interested in some classic firearms from Sweden.
Husqvarna 1900, later Carl Gustaf 1900, is a bolt-action rifle developed in Sweden in the 1960s by Husqvarna Vapenfabrik, which also produced the rifle from 1967 to 1970. The rifle was produced in the variants Standard, Monte Carlo, Monte Carlo Lux and a sport model, and got a reputation for having a very high quality. In 1970 the department producing the rifle was sold to Förenade Fabriksverken (FFV), and the production was moved to Carl Gustafs Gevärsfaktori in Eskilstuna without large changes. Production in Eskilstuna was ended in 1979.
It has been claimed that the factory towards the end of the 1970s was instructed to reduce costs, resulting in parts of the production being moved to subcontractors in southern Europe. The quality of the assembled firearm is then claimed to have varied a lot from year to year. After a while copies of the rifle also started appearing on the market, for example under the names "Viking 1900" and "SG 1900" (SG meansing svenskt gevär, lit. Swedish Rifle). All these were allegedly produced or assembled in the Zoli factory in Italy. One of these copies is still sold today under the name Antonio Zoli 1900. Antonio Zoli has since bought the design

This is one of my favorite rifle Carl Gustaf 1900 in caliber 6,5x55 Swede, made in 1976 my uncle bought it new back then. My uncle sent the rifle to Norma to be fitted with a Schultz & Larsen Semimatch barrel for precision hunting/shooting barrel is 26" long. it has not been fired much sat in the safe for decades before I took over it.
Ive made some changes the trigger has been rebuilt with sear from a Carl Gustaf Sporter, and polished/tuned by an old gunsmith that worked at the factory back then. It now has a adjustable triggerpull from 1lbs, its set just below 2lbs. I have bedded/pillarbedded the stock some years ago. And its really a nice rifle to shoot, nice balance, really nice precision and low recoil.
Anyway spent some time tonight giving it some care with linseed oil some drops in the palm and rubbing the stock until it burns in my hand. Love the smell and how the wood soaks it up showing some grain.

I love swedes. I have two m96's and an m38 I use for hunting with a 4x and 30 caliber can.
Last year I picked up a CZ 557 in 6.5x55. I need to get it threaded for shooting with a can.

Beautiful rifle. Not fancy or gaudy, just a real nice working rifle. Very nice.
