Cat scratch 10/22 fever

Post by BigAl52 » Mon May 08, 2023 9:00 pm

I know there is some 10/22 lovers on here and Ive played with them before. About a year ago I bought another 10/22 with the hammer forged barrel. It shot really well and I was very happy with it shooting off the bench. But Im not as good as I once was and I kinda like the lighter weight for shooting off hand. Plus Im not as tough as some guy called RR from Canada. I decided to play with mine a little. I was going to buy another 10/22. They have one called the lite takedown. The price for those is 625.00. Ouch So I started looking around. My neighbor told me look at the Summit Precision carbon fiber barrels they are cool and have great reviews. Yes they do on both comments. So I bought one 16.1 inch flat black. They also come in 18 and 20. I just put mine in tonight. Old one came out a little snug this one dropped right in.

https://summit-precision.com/ check them out. Looking forward to shooting mine soon. I will get a range report. Until then here is a pic of mine

I dealt with a guy named Matt there. He was very good to deal with. Answered all my questions and concerns very promptly via email. Customer service seems to be top notch

Al, how much trouble is the barrel swap?
Never done one.

Piece of cake Randy. Remove the barrel from the stock via the screw on the bottom of the stock. Now this barrel I bought will only fit a bull barrel stock. So if you have the 10/22 with the standard barrel it isnt going to work. When you get the barrel and receiver out of the stock there is a rectangular block with 2 allen head screws in it. Those 2 screws need to come out. The little block will come off and then you can remove the barrel. Some barrels are tight requiring some mallet work.
