I have always had a weakness for the black powder revolving carbines, but I do not want to mess with BP or buy a conversion cylinder.


Here is the ad, there is hardly any actual info and the pictures are garbage. The cylinder doesn’t have a ring mark…..

I found a few really old gun auctions for this gun, this is most informative, from 2010, it was in gorgeous condition and sold for the same price. A couple of older ones sold for $400.

I did message the seller asking for info, and some decent pics. Would standard Remington 1858 internal parts work? I am guessing that it doesn’t have any sort of hammer safety. I would use it as a close range plinker and as wall art. does it have any collector value? Comments welcome, yay or nay? Run away?

Is it actually a Remington or a repro made by another party? Either way, I would try to do as much research as possible. Also, one of the issues of all revolver rifles has been getting your eye that close to the cylinder and having your eye exposed to the usual splatter from revolvers. Of course, if it's just going to be a wall hanger, no big deal. Have to say, that would be a very cool conversation piece.

I think it is a Pieta, I emailed EMF in CA asking if they could provide any useful info, or even a product page from when they sold it. I never shoot without safety glasses, and I know about splatter on the supporting hand or wrist. I think it looks really cool with the wood forearm, if it has no collector value I would be happy to strip and refinish the furniture….

I received a prompt email from EMF from a rep who has been there 23 years. I cannot quote her, but I am going to run away from this gun, very very fast.

I did ask her to pass my request up the corporate ladder, to make a new model like this, with pretty wood grain, but in .22LR/ .22Mag with an extra cylinder, and looking like this Pietta 1860.

No experience with EMF, directly, but EMF is an importer of Italian reproductions in the same vein as Cimarron and Taylor's and others. I think they mostly carry Pietta guns. There was a time when Piettas were considered low end or budget Italian repros, but they've cleaned up their act a lot in the last ten years or so. The current Piettas are actually quite good. I have a Cimarron Pietta Colt that is right there with my Uberti made Colts.

You were wise to run away from the frankengun. Anything with a brass frame is good for a wall hanger not a shooter. Also you do not want your hand in front of any revolver cylinder.

I had something similar a while back...I think it was based on a Colt SAA. Also an Italian maker (in this case, Armi Jager). With the .22 WMR cylinder in place, it was downright unpleasant to shoot...
It was kind of pretty, though...
