There were plenty of AR types there, so if Spokane has more, I’ll definitely give it a miss. There was one guy with a few levers, but prices were eye opening!

I got my barrel band in the mail on Saturday (huge thanks to my friend in Colorado who acted as a “coordinator” to get the parts to me), and installed it tonight. I did pull the mag tube to do this, so cleaned and lubed everything up. Found a “42 30WCF” stamp on the underside of the barrel. I’m guessing at least the barrel was made in 1942?

After lubing up everything and slightly backing off the receiver bottom screw, it’s running a good bit smoother. I’ll probably do a full disassembly at some point, but for now it has been “baselined” enough that I may shoot it soon. Snow is quickly disappearing here, so might be able to get up the hill to my shooting spot soon.

I’ve been seeing quite a few of these rifles show up lately. Maybe it’s just the “buy a VW bug, suddenly notice them everywhere” scenario, or maybe more are popping up for sale. The last two I saw were $3850 and $4000 respectively. That’s Arctic pesos mind you, so more like $20 USD. (Ok, $3000 USD at todays rate). Makes me REALLY happy about my $0 trade! Not that I’ll sell mine any time soon, but it’s nice to know.
