The stock on mine has some beautiful wood, hidden by some awful spray finish. Ive intended from day one to strip it and put a good and proper finish on it. But, I thought, before slathering the stripper on it Ill rub it out with a rottenstone slurry and see what that does, it did this,

Im not a big fan of a high gloss riflestock but it looks better than it did and rubbing it out did surely make that grain pop. Not sure where Ill go from here. I just wish that stain CZ dipped it in wasnt so danged dark.

Very nice! I would like to do something like that on my MTR, but I have no woodworking experience and afraid to! :?

I wouldnt have done anything to mine if it was t for the odd color of it. I dint know if the wood is just really dark, unusually dark or if its some stain the factory put on or what. I look around at all of the other CZs and they have a color sort of like the Henrys. I look around on Gunbroker and the like and all of the 457's I see are much lighter. And, yes, it does have some very nice grain that I wanted to highlight, or at least be able to see it.
I probably will end up stripping it and starting from scratch, I dint like the "plastic" look. I want a nice rubbed oil finish look, and the only way to get that look is to have a rubbed oil finish. 👍
