10-22 take down

Picked up some CCI mini mags today for $11.49/100 at the LGS. A customer was trading in his custom Ruger 10-22 take down and I had to touch it. Came with a nice case, 3 mags, extra stock butt with higher cheek weld, and a Vortex Diamondback 3-9 X 40 scope. Has threaded barrel which I don't care about at this time and a decent trigger. Great shape. So it came out of the store with me.

Ernie nice score. That 10/22 take down should be a good shooter and handy to have. Have fun.

The 10-22 take down was a winning concept as soon as it hit the shelves. I can see by the photographs and the description why it left with you. Nice pick up.

These are neat rifles, I have a 10/22 TD stainless Backpacker (Magpul) with a red dot, It is my go-to rifle for plinking at short distances. Mine doesn’t shoot well beyond 25 yards like a CZ bolt action, so I no longer bother. Is that yellow powdercoat a factory option? I am not up to date on all the variations. Can you post a closeup showing the barrel?

Let us know how it shoots Ernie. I had one a few years ago but I could not get it to shoot very accurately and it was all over the target. I ended up getting rid of it.

Yes it is powder coated from the factory and not scratched up. I asked the guy trading it in how it shot and he told me it shot very well. The 10 shot magazines still had ammo and they were Remington unjacketed so I will be trying some better shells to test it. I needs a good cleaning but otherwise looks ok.
Al, I heard these were not the best shooters. Guess I will find out. If not then I can probably find another sucker to take it off my hands. The scope is like new so I figure that was worth some money and I can always find a place for a decent scope.

As a side note:
My CCW no longer allows me to buy a gun without a call for a background check. They don't look at the CCW anymore. But so far I have been able to carry the gun out at the time of purchase. A fellow I work with also purchased a weapon yesterday and he was told he will receive a call when he can pick up his purchase. Could take a week.

Ruger now has a suppressed barrel that swaps right in for the takedown 10-22 and the reports I have seen say it's accurate and quiet.

We have the FBI to thank for that. Up until a couple of years ago the FBI would do instant background checks for folks with CCW’s and we could take a handgun home the same day (if approved of course). Now here we have a wait up to 10 days but most of the time it’s less than that.

Ernie I hope yours shoots hole in hole. It also has something to do with the lock up adjusting wheel. I have a PC Carbine in 40 S&W and it has the same design. My 40 shoots very well.
