510 Remingtons up front and ready

Post by bandit1250 » Wed Jul 20, 2016 7:35 am

I moved some rifles around in my safe and put my 510X Remington's up front to maybe get to shoot them soon. I have four of the X models that were all made in different months in 1965. These are single shots and they are good shooting 22's. Very light to carry in the squirrel woods with their slender barrel. These were a good buy when I bought them. Two of them I got for $90 each and one was $140 and the last one was $165. A few of them still had the factory sights on them when I got them and I hated the looks of that "shark fin" front so I pulled the sights off and sold them on e-bay and the sights brought $160 and $180 per set because they are hard to find and the rear is easily broken by cranking the adjusting wheel all the way up and breaking the sight off. The rear was similar to the Nylon 66 sight. Here is my 510X Rems.
Front to rear--- 510X 1965 4X Swift--- 1965 4X Leupold--- 1965 4X Weaver--- 1965 4X Leupold
The front one and the second on in I refinished the wood but they all have the original blue on them.

You got them at a great price. All very nice rifles and your refinishing job looks great!

I will give you $600 for all four of them. That's a 23.71% return on investment. Just throwing that out there.

Beautiful guns, bandit.

I thought, what a perfect gun for an ammo shortage. 8-)

BTW, am I the only one that loves the 6X fixed power scopes?

I had a 6X40 on my marlin 25 and found that to be ideal for squirrels, etc., or just plinking/target for that matter.

You rarely hear about them or see them anywhere. About everything is 4X or variable, though I know they are available.

Those old Remingtons rock. I inherited a 560 from my dad. It had been the rifle I grew up with. I gave it to my son. Later, I found another with a 4x scope and bought it. It is my go to bunny gun. The tube load may have influenced my appreciation for the Henry Rifles.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.
