My buddy has been trolling the pawn shops around here lately. He just picked up a Springfield 1903-A3. $175 out the door. It needed a rear sight, under $50. It has some use, but not worn out. Sport stock, not milspec. He has seen a number of them in various conditions and prices in the local pawns.

I would love a nice A-3. Don't think I want a "sporterized" one, though.

My buddy is looking into getting a military stock for it, and perhaps put it back in original form. Looks like a good shooter regardless of furniture. It has a decent stock on it, although I would refinish it if it were mine. Sloppy job of applying finish IMO. Lots of parts available for the 03A3s. Good deals are out there, if you look, and are willing to take on a project.
