A fantastic day at the range

It always is when I take my mk12 mod1 clone. That thing is literally boring, its just so accurate.

I was done a real solid by the owner of Centurion Arms when he agreed to assemble my parts into a complete upper. I had everything sans barrel and muzzle device which I bought from him. Mr. LeClaire is a retired (2016) SEAL who was deeply invloved with the Mk12 concept from the get go so having someone of his caliber put my upper together meant alot to me.

The barrels and the chamber were actually designed around a round of ammunition, the Mk262 77gr OTM and while thats what Ive always shot in it I didnt this time, I used the Hornady 75grbthp over 26.2gr of CFE 223 and 24.5gr of TAC, both impacted within two clicks of each other.

I had three people inquire as to what I was shooting after emptying the remainder of a mag on the 300yd steel at a too fast pace because we were getting ready to go range cold, and never missing, just "ding" after "ding". One guy said "what do you do, sleep with that thing?". Funny. Two hundred yard head shots on a 3"×3" Silohuette "head" area are no issues. Sometimes I buy clays and put out on the 300yd berm and bust them up too. Its just really a fun rifle. Just like the original I only have a 10x scope. Mine is about a 90% authentic clone and Im very happy with it and is honestly one of my most prized and cherished firearms.

Thanks for the kind words folks. I need to shoot it more often but I like to take it easy on it and not consume the barrel no more than I can help. The main reason is the ammo it shoots, if its not the Black Hills load its my handloads but either way the ammo is HOT

That’s a good looking rifle that shoots awesome (as does the shooter). When I was shooting mid-range (600yd) F Class I shot a .223 bolt gun using the Sierra 77gr Matchkings similar to the bullet you are shooting. Even tho my rifle was a 1/9 twist and “not supposed” to shoot the heavier bullets as well as a 1/8 it shot those 77 grainers wonderfully.

I know. I never understood why people seem to hold that opinion. Theyre understandably not as efficient as a bolt gun and the calibers can only be so big but if the AMU and MMU use them and arent they used now at places like Camp Perry? Ive always had some very accurate gas guns, had fine bolt guns too but I believe it mostly or largely comes down to finding that perfect load.
