This thing is a beast

Post by bandit1250 » Tue Dec 10, 2019 9:14 am

My shooting friend just bought another target rifle 22 LR. Remington 40X single shot. Has a barrel tuner and the 2 oz. trigger with a functional safety. A lot of 2 oz. triggers on full out bench guns have no safety. Has also had pieces of walnut added to the sides of the stock fore end to make it nearly 4" wide for a solid rest on mechanical rests. This rifle has to be in the 20 lb. range. It almost made my arm hurt trying to hold it to my shoulder when getting the scope cross hairs straight after putting his scope on it. Can't wait for us to be able to hit the range on a good day and get the tuner dialed in to the ammo he shoots. My camera sucks at close ups. Not very clear picture at all.

Very wide fore end.

Makes my rifles sitting there look like toys.

WOW .... one seldom hears the term beast used to describe a 22 LR but this one with its 40X scope  and other mods would sure seem to qualify .... hope the weather takes a turn that will allow you get it out on a range

They call them bench guns for a reason. We have our bench gun in our CZ Varmint MTR 22 LR, but it weights a dainty 7 pounds without the scope. I might be able to shave a few hundredths of an inch off the groups it shoots with a 20 pound monster of a bench gun, but then I'd need someone to carry it to the bench for me. :)

That barrel tuner made me think "Polychoke" for a second. Not gonna be required with .22 shot loads ;) . Quite the precision instrument there.

but this one with its 40X scope
I'm thinkin' the '40X ' is the Model # of the rifle - Not a 40 X scope!
