Rossi R92 20” stainless 357

Post by FreeNHim » Mon Mar 13, 2023 6:01 pm

So posting this on this forum almost seems to be sacrilegious. How do newer Rossi rifles perform and what issues do they have? I can pick one up for $650. Is that a good buy?

At that price I would hope that the quality is better. I paid less than $300 for mine 10 years ago. Took some work but it’s holding up well.

From what I've read about the newer ones has been all good.
I have a pair of the older Puma Rossi rifles that I like quite well.
I think $650 would be a fair price, and the 357 is very fun and capable round. Especially from a lever gun.

No lever discrimination here, most of us have other brands that we enjoy. Also lots of discussion of all types of firearms.

The Puma Rossi was a better gun IMHO than the new ones. I wont buy one because I have owned a couple of Taurus made products and there customer service is non existent. YMMV

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I've had a Rossi R92 20" 357 Mag. in stainless for going on 3 years now. It's been a great shooting gun. Function wise it's was good out of the box, but the action was very gritty. I took it apart and did a little stone work and with use it's now nice and smooth. It will feed any round I put in it from 38 Spl 158 gr RNFP and 357 Mag. Since I don't hunt I don't bother with jacket ammo, I just use the MB 158 gr. Hi-Tek coated bullets. It's very light weight compared to my Henry BBS in 357 Mag. It moves and swings to get on target very fast. Very much a fun gun to play with at the range.

As far as price goes, $650 is most likely the going rate in todays market. I paid $525 when I bought mine, but all gun prices keep going up. I've seen a them priced at almost $800 in some small gun shops.
