Ruger Marlin 45/70
Ruger Marlin 45/70
A local guy just posted on our local site that he just picked up one of the new Ruger 1895 45/70’s. I asked him to do a report and if he does I’ll share it here.

I do hope that the talk of returning quality to Marlin's production by Ruger will prove to be the case

Looked at the pictures on the web site. There’s a lot that I like about it, but two things that I don’t are the laminate stock and that long picatinny rail.

This is a Remington vs. Ruger made fit and finish comparison. One would expect Ruger to be more refined. This just is a side-by-side comfimation. But, shooting is what matters.

Re: Ruger Marlin 45/70
I've heard great things about the new Ruger made Marlins, but I think I will have to wait.
M.S.R.P is something like $1250 for the 1895.
GunBroker has them selling all day long for over $2.5k and Cheaper than Dirt is advertising one for a mere $3795!
No, I'll wait.

$ 1250 for a real Stainless vs. $1198 for a plated version from Henry, I think I would pick the Ruger/Marlin for the $ 52 differenceMgderf wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 11:17 amI've heard great things about the new Ruger made Marlins, but I think I will have to wait.

I have been leaning toward a Henry 45-70, if I decide to purchase one. I like traditional look. Gray, just does not work for me.

Re: Ruger Marlin 45/70
The gray is not just a color.
It's what they call a "Marine Cote"
A type of Cera-Cote I believe.
It's a very durable finish, though not as visually pleasing as blued steel.
