Remington Auto-Loading rifle/model 8

Post by Mgderf » Sun Jul 18, 2021 10:42 am

Last week I had no idea that this gun existed.
Today I await it's arrival at my local gun shop.

It will be some time before I can lay my hands on it, mainly due to the auction checkout/shipping practices, but that's o.k.
I don't need it tomorrow, next month will be fine. Lol

The Remington Auto-Loading rifle was introduced in 1905.
A perfect example of the amazing mind of John Moses Browning, it was the first, commercially successful semi-auto center-fire in the United States.
In 1911 it was renamed the model 8.
Offered in a few calibers, mine is of the .35 Remington variety and has a 5-round internal magazine.

A few were produced for law enforcement were designed to accept a 15 round detachable magazine.
It was one of these 15 round models in .35 Remington, and wielded by a Texas Ranger named Frank Hamer, that helped cut-down Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow.

One of the old ads I saw said you could, "fire 5 rounds before the first spent case hit the ground".
All I can say about that is,

That's such a classic rifle, all the more so in 35 Remington. Looking forward to hearing more about it when it arrives.

And was one of the rifles used against Bonnie & Clyde on their last day. 👍
Love the Caliber, I own 3, 2 Marlins and a Savage pump.
Congrats on the new toy.
