22LR Pump "Carbine"

I decided I wanted a 22LR pump, so I bought a Henry H003T. We all know it only comes with a 20" barrel but I prefer a shorter carbine/trapper length barrel. So out came the power tools, hacksaws, and files - and a couple hours later I now have a 16.5" 22LR pump. Every time I take it to the range it's like going to an old time shooting arcade. Going to have to throw some cotton candy in my range bag next time.

Nice companion to my Ronnie Wells Kaytod Bisley grip frame Ruger 22LR Single Six
Compared to my grand daughter's Henry Evil Roy. Think I'm going to shorten the stock 3/4" on the pump since I like the feel of the shorter stock.

I hope you enjoy the cotton candy and the pump. That handgun looks right at home with them all.

After seeing the pic with the Evil Roy I agree shorting the stock is a good idea. Not only for comfort but I think it will balance the look with the shorter barrel nicely.

That is a nice looking combo! Does the pump still shoot as well after the barrel cut? I have same pair of rifles/carbine and really like the Evil Roy!

I’ve only shot out to 25 yards with both lengths with a Skinner barrel mounted peep sight and I haven’t noticed a change in accuracy. I’m not going to post numbers since I could miss a target a 5 yards with a scope mounted on a 12 gauge shotgun but a decent shooter could still win a prize at the county fair with the 16.5” barrel pump.

A bit of an exaggeration I suspect but a funny line indeed.

I like it! I'm a fan of pump 22s, anyway, and would like to see more pump 22s being made. I get why people love lever guns, but for me, when it comes to plinking with 22s, pumps are even more fun to shoot.

Went ahead and shortened the stock 3/4". I also stripped the receiver cover down to the metal since it was already getting scratched and starting to peel - Henry must be using water based latex paint since it's not very durable. I also added a Skinner front fiber optic sight. That plus the rear peep sight really helps these old greasy orbs.
The grand kids should be really pleased with the new toys. Who am I kidding - I mean't grandpa.
