Thanks, and I agree on one of JB's best. They are a little more difficult to tear down, but it is a very robust action.
They carry so well.

Oh, Yes Sir. As I do for Everthing I shoot.
When you can even find a box of 25-20 you'll pay through the nose.
That being said I do have "one" box of factory stuff.
I've had it for a good while, even back then I think I paid like $75-80 for it.

Just looked at Ammoseek and they show some $109.99 to $135.99 per a box of 50.

Okay this is definitely plinking! Hot outside and I'm at home. Found my Spear 38 plastic bullets and wrapped a piece of tape around one to fit the .360 bore of Mister Pepper. Load just the primer of course and set a box up with target against a filing cabinet in the garage.
Step back 12 ft. and same downward tilt of revolver and took 2 shots. Not bad and plastic bullet went thru both sides box and hit the cabinet. You can see the slug hit dead on and no key hole by looking at imprint.
Only bad thing is primer gets pulled back and lodges under the hammer in the cutout. About all the fun you can have in the city!

I finally got off the tractor and lawn mower. I’m now mowing about seven acres and it seems this place eats all my time. I plunked at the gongs after mowing in front of them.

On a side note I ordered some custom made targets last Friday. I haven’t heard back from the welder. It all depends on if he can get the parts at a reasonable price.

Nah! Once you add rules and official scoring, then it would no longer be plinking. Keep the rules and regulations out of it.

Hadn't thought of that, but it's doable here in the yard.
Put the shoulder holster on and slip one of the 22 revolvers in it.
Randomly plink a gong as I make a pass.

If we did the Gold would go to a Wisconsinite. People have huge lawns here. Mine is about seven acres after I built the garage and made more lawn. And of course a range has to me a lawn.

At my last place I mowed the fields a couple of times per year. Had lots of moles and from time to time I could see one running away from the tractor. I always thought I should carry a 22 pistol along but never did. A better choice would have been a 38 with shot shells. Here at my current place I’m starting to get some moles moving in so I just bought a couple of traps a neighbor suggested.

Now mowing in front of a bunch of targets and shooting while in motion is a sport I could really get into.

Our local club range is under renovation now, so our preferred ranges are under construction and closed. As a result, I've been staying at home and doing some plinking from the deck in our yard. It's been a mix of air guns and rimfires, the usual mix of backyard friendly shooters.

The one gun, though, that motivates me to step out on the deck for some shooting the most, as always, is my Winchester 1885 22 LR. Not much of a challenge shooting steel at 25 yards with this gun, but that's okay. We all have guns that we shoot just for the joy of shooting, a gun that is a pure pleasure to operate and handle and is more than just an accurate shooter or shooting tool, a gun that always leaves you feeling better at the end of a shooting session. This is mine. Scope is a Nikon Prostaff EFR 3-9x.



For backyard work, I shoot CCI Quiets rather than CB Shorts for the sake of keeping the chamber from developing a crud ring. Thanks to the 24" barrel, the Quiets are pretty quiet.

I’ve found CCI SV quiet enough for my needs. I don’t think many people could hear a Howitzer go off in my back yard. For me I don’t want to scare the sand hill cranes and turkeys off.

On a side note I may have some interesting bullet trap hangers in a few weeks for the winter. I’m so busy in the summer I don’t get much plinking time in. It seems I shoot more in the winter when there is nothing else to do.

A little standard velocity 22 stuff this morning. Then a pulled pork sandwich for an early lunch. I skipped breakfast.
I mowed the grass yesterday but forgot to try the driveby plink'n thing.

Yes, a Stevens, it started life as a 25, but somewhere along it's life someone had it relined to a 22lr.
It's a pretty good shooter, I mostly just used the standard vel., or shorts in it.
The extractor doesn't work reliably 100% of the the time, but is much better with those two vs the HV stuff.
