Henry 410 lever
Henry 410 lever
I'm intrigued with this shotgun and considering purchasing one. The question is, which barrel length. I don't hunt. I might shoot some clays with it( probably miss more than I hit). The advertising says the 20" barrel is more versatile, I don't see that with its fixed open choke. The 24" barrel has exchangeable chokes. Experiences and opinions?

I don't understand why they only have choke tubes in both .... unless its a rifled barrel, I wouldn't have a shotgun without choke tubes

Bump. I was wondering the same thing. I would like another 410 lever. I have a 9410.

Well, after one failed purchase from a dishonest gun seller on GunBroker. I finally have a H018 being shipped. I imagine late next week it will be in my possession. I ordered a case and 2 choke tubes ( mod and skeet) from Henry. I'll keep you posted.
Re: Henry 410 lever
It's here! I'm still waiting on the additional choke tubes. Need to go out and pattern it with different loads and chokes. Photo is not loading. Will try later.

That’s a nice looking shotgun. I really like the pistol grip stock with the 3/4 magazine tube, classy!!

Having trouble posting pictures. Other sites are much user friendly.
Re: Henry 410 lever
I have two Henry 410s repeaters, both in the 19 inch bbl. They both came with very sticky actions. This was a surprise since my other Henry rifles are very smooth and were like silk right out of the box. Anyone else have an issue with a sticky action? It seems like it hangs around the trigger when levering it. The 30-30 and 22 really spoiled me with the smoothness and ease of action.
Re: Henry 410 lever
I recently started shooting sporting clays for fun, for some people it is addiction. I like more drop in the stock than average. One of my other shotguns came with shims to adjust to ones liking. Does anyone know if Henry makes shims for the H018?

I would contact H.R.A.
Re: Henry 410 lever
My dad had a lot of shotguns but I noticed he always carried a 20" double when we went hunting. I asked him why not the long goose guns and he told me that shotguns actually gain very little or no velocity from barrels longer than 20". The shorter guns were easier to bring up and get on them bunnies in time.
They do use fast burning powders so I've always chosen 20" barrels in scatterguns.
We go with what we're taught.
