Hello from North Dakota
New member and new owner of a single shot 30-30.
Bought it for shorter deer hunting ranges, critter control, and something fun and cheap to shoot. I like casting so if anyone has any mold recommendations it would be greatly appreciated. The mold I have the rifle doesn’t like.

Welcome from Michigan. Can't help you with the casting question but someone else should.

Welcome from Eastern Washington State. I spent my sophomore year of high school in NE North Dakota while my dad was working at one of the mussel sites. Actually he worked at the defense site called the PAR site as I recall. A very fun year for me.

Welcome to the forum!
I also own a Henry single-shot in .30-30. I never learned to pull a bow so the single-shot was my way of making the hunt more challenging.
I load my own .30-30 rounds using commercial bullets so I can't help any with bullet casting tips.

Welcome to the forum
I tried cast bullets in 30-30 one time and ended up just using factory produced bullets. I found if you use a cast bullet in that caliber you need a gas check on it. I also think I remember reading about that in Mike Venturinos book Shooting Leverguns of the Old West. Really like my SS in 357

Thanks for the warm welcomes.
Brm4450 I lived in s.dak for about 10 years. Miss the hills
I’ll just have to order some bullets and do some playing around.

Re: Hello from North Dakota
Welcome to the family, from Central Oklahoma. I reloaded a LOT when I was shooting PPC but never cast my own bullets. Just didn't have the time. I was working ten to twelve hour shifts and trying to fit my shooting and reloading into family time.
I ordered most of my bulk bullets from Georgia Arms, don't know if they are still around these days. I think they are. When I stopped competing, I had just picked up a bulk order of 10k bullets so I'm good.
Jump right in and start posting. It really is a family here. We don't pick on folks, okay we do, but all in good fun. Like family. We'll help any way we can.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.
